Brenda Christian Obituary

Brenda Anne Christian (Cote), 84 of Lebanon, ME passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. 

Born on April 9, 1941, in Plymouth, NH, she was the youngest child of Harry L. Cote, Sr., and Rose E. Cote (Ruel). Raised in Ashland, NH, she attended Ashland High School before pursuing a career as a beautician. She later devoted herself fully to her role as a dedicated wife and stay at home mother, raising her family with love, grace and strength, while her faithful husband traveled for his Electrical work.

Brenda had a passion for life’ssimple and beautiful things. She found happiness in gardening, painting and refurbishing furniture. She was an avid puzzler and could often be found working through a 1000-piece puzzle with quiet determination. Her love for yellow roses and hummingbirds was well known and reflected her warmth and gentle spirit. 

She was the kindest, most generous person anyone could have ever known. She had an open-door policy and became known as “the mom of the town" in Berwick and had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel loved and welcome. Adopting and extending an invitation to anyone who walked through her door as an honorary family member. Showing them the love and acceptance that so many didn't get to experience In their own homes. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. To all who knew her, Brenda was the heart of the family—steadfast, nurturing, and always there when needed.

Anyone who was lucky enough to know her knew that her family was her most prized possession. She was the beloved wife and is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charles (Bobby) R. Christian, Jr., and a cherished mother to her children: Mark F. Christian and his fiancé Terri A. Eastman of Lebanon, ME, Michelle M. Goodwin and her husband Larry B. Goodwin of Lebanon, ME, Beth A. Slattery and her husband Michael R. Slattery of Lebanon, ME, Rebecca S. Carter and her husband Chuck R. Carter of North Berwick, ME, Linda J. Christian and her fiancé Tom Wesner of Moultonboro, NH. She was the proud meme to Amanda L. Shaw (Goodwin) of Lebanon, ME, Rebecca L. Slattery of Lebanon, ME, Kristin M. Lirette and her husband Douglas I. Lirette of Lebanon, ME, Shawnee R. Kinney and her husband Brent C. Kinney of Wells, ME, Brandon C. Christian and his wife Saige A. Christian of Rochester, NH, Cameron J. Preston of Rochester, NH and Cody R. Preston of Tilton, NH. Her love continued to extend to her great-grandchildren, Zaryah, Fallyn, Ryder, Kolton and Connor, who brought her immense joy in her later years. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins, including a special niece she grew up alongside, Linda Gately.

She was preceded in death and is now reunited with her mother: Rose E. Cote (Ruel), father Harry L. Cote, Sr., her siblings Harry Jr., Rose (Sue), Theresa (Ta), Vincent (Tim), Jane, John, Jacqueline (Jackie, her “partner in crime”), Harriet, Carroll (Butch), and David (her protector) and her great-grandson, Eric T. Shaw, Jr.

A celebration of life will be held in Brenda's honor, on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Elks Lodge 282 Durham Road Dover, NH 03820, from 1:00pm to 5:30pm. Family and friends are invited to come together, share memories, and honor the life of a woman who gave so much, to so many. 

Brenda's legacy lives on through the family she nurtured, the beauty she created, and the love she gave so freely. Her love, laughter and presence will forever be missed, but her legacy of family and devotion will live on in each life she touched.
