Betty L. Dusseault, 88, of Wells, passed peacefully on February 6th at York Hospital after a period of failing health.
She was born to Lewis and Sarah (Pearson) Rogers of Eliot on January 11, 1933 and graduated from Eliot High School. She married Richard B. Dusseault of Portsmouth in 1952 and in 1954 they bought their home in Wells where they raised their six children.
Betty and Richard loved their yearly summer vacations at Square Pond with their children and extended family. After Richard's retirement they enjoyed traveling, including their road trips to Canada, Florida, California, and especially to visit family in Alaska.
Betty was a dedicated homemaker and devoted mom and grandmother who had many interests including painting, sewing, and other crafts. She loved the beauty of nature and being outdoors; walking in her woods, cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter, playing in her gardens in the summer, and feeding and watching the wild birds. She was an avid baker and was known for often gifting people with her homemade cookies and treats. She loved visiting with her family and friends, and always had a sparkling smile for everyone. She had a mischievous sense of humor but couldn't tell a joke with a straight face, and she often said that no matter what, you can always find something every day to be happy about.
She was predeceased by her husband Richard in February of 2020, their son, Glen Dusseault in 2006, daughter Denise Dusseault in 2018, and her brother, Paul Rogers in November of 2020.
She will be greatly missed by daughters Norma Bee and her husband Herb of Wells, Joan Nixon of Wells, Brenda Dusseault of Florida, and Annie Reed and husband Spencer of Arundel; her grandchildren Dara, Aaron, April, Nate, Jacob, Halle, Jay, and Holly, and great-grandchildren Ayla, Carlie, and Olivia. She is also survived by her sister Jean Odiorne, sister-in-law MaryAnn Rogers, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and other extended family, all of whom she loved keeping in touch with lately via Facebook and phone.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic there will be no service at this time. A family graveside service for her and Richard will be held in the spring at Brooks Memorial Cemetery in Eliot.
