Valerie J. (Jepson) Townsend

Valerie J Townsend 64 of Wells, ME passed away peacefully after a long illness on Saturday May 25, 2019 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital under the care of Beacon Hospice.

She was born in Sanford, ME on November 2, 1954 the daughter of the late James and Priscilla Jepson.  She grew up in North Berwick and attended local schools graduating from Noble High School.

On September 13, 1975 she married Willis L. Townsend and the two started a family in the Town of Wells.  Valerie worked for Varney Crossing Nursing Care Center in North Berwick for over 30 years before transitioning to SMHC Biddeford for 5 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant until becoming ill.

Valerie will be remembered as a loving Wife, Mother and Nana.  She also enjoyed spending the winter in Florida and playing cards and bingo with her friends.  Valerie always put the needs of others before her own and it showed in the care that she gave over the years.

Valerie is survived by her loving husband of 43 years Willis L. Townsend of Wells, ME.  Her Son Jason L. Townsed and his wife Julie of Bowdoin, ME.  Daughter Jessica J. Fosmire and her partner Kevin Struphar of Palmyra, PA.  4 Grandchildren Brandon Fosmire, Lexi Fosmire, Andrew Fosmire and Olivia Townsend.  Brother Richard Jepson Sr. and his wife Janet of Sanford, ME as well as many Nephews and Neices. She was predeceased by her father James Jepson, Mother Priscillia Jepson as well as her nephew Richard Jepson Jr.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Portsmouth Regional Hospital and Beacon Hospice for their care, kindness and compassion over the last several weeks.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her honor to the NHSPCA 104 Portsmouth Ave Stratham, NH 03885.

Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, May 30 from 6 to 8pm at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick, where the funeral will be held on Friday at 10 am.  Interment in the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Monday, June 3 at 1pm.  Memorial Contributions may be made to South Berwick & Wells Christian Church, 612 Emery’s Bridge Road, South Berwick, ME 03908.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Johnson Funeral Home where condolences may be expressed at www.JohnsonFuneralHomeME.com
