P. Winn Obituary

P. Fay (Thyng) Winn, 72, lifelong resident of North Berwick, passed away November 15, 2018 in York Hospital after a period of failing health.

She was born September 6, 1946, daughter of John and Virginia (Staples) Thyng.  Fay graduated North Berwick High School in 1964 before marrying Robert N. Winn in July of 1966.  She was a stay at home mom for the first years of their 3 daughters’ lives before going to work for the 1st National Bank in town.  She made banking her life-long career, following the company thru many mergers; retiring from Bank of America.

Fay will always be remembered for her thoughtfulness through the many things she did for others, including knitting afghans, hats and mittens to all of her family and friends as well as making sure everyone in her calendar of events received a greeting card for their special day.  She and Bob enjoyed their camp in Milo on Boyd Lake; snowmobiling and watching the birds she so loved.  She and her mother  were fortunate enough to share a large garden together for many years.  As the grandchildren came along, she made a special day for them to make Christmas cookies together, no matter how much mess they made, “Mame” loved every minute of it.  Fay never missed an opportunity to go out to eat with friends and family and especially enjoyed her trips to Oakfield to visit her dear friends.  Fay was also dedicated to supporting the Suicide Prevention, Out of the Darkness  walks each  year. Her humor, her caring soul and  loving kindness will forever be missed by all those she touched.

Fay was pre-deceased by her grandson, Dustin Wick.  Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Robert N. Winn, Sr. of North Berwick; 3 daughters, Darlene Wick and Husband Dan of North Berwick, Pamela  Patstone and husband Scott of North Berwick, Sheri Prentice and husband Billy of Lebanon; 3 brothers,   Wayne (Gayle) Weymouth of Wells, Leslie Weymouth of North Berwick and Owen (Lynn) Thyng of North Berwick; 4 grandchildren, Valerie and Bethany Patstone, Meghan and Zachary Lane and great-grandchildren, Colton Addisyn, Cooper, Gunnar and Kinsley who is expected to arrive in December.

A time of visitation will be held Tuesday, November 20 from 4pm to 6pm at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick, ME.  Those who wish may contribute to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, 120 Wall Street, 29th Floor, New York, NY 10005
