Marsha Ann Baird Poirier, of Berwick, flew to heaven May 18, 2019 at home with her loved ones by her side at the age of 75.
Beloved wife of 52 years to Kenneth. Mother to Teri Poirier and Kimberly & Peter Taylor. Grandmother of Crystal, Karalyn, Cassandra, Ryan, Sara & Robert. Gigi to Trynitee, Landon, Gabriel, Savana & Memphis. Treasured sister of Pam & Ralph King, Trish & Don Bennett & Barb & Mark Roark. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. She leaves countless friends, numerous students and sparks in children's lives she touched. Predeceased by granddaughters Kelsey Ann and Charlee Rae.
Marsha was the daughter of Raymond & Charlene (Bakes) Baird born October 3, 1943 in Milan, Indiana. She graduated from Ladoga High School (Indiana) in 1961. She earned a B.S. in Education from Indiana University in 1967 and later completed a Masters in Psychology.
Marsha and Kenneth were married Dec. 29, 1966 and lived at many Air Force Bases in the US and Bitburg, Germany settling in Berwick in 1981. They enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and the US during Ken's 30 years in the Air Force and after his retirement. She worked and volunteered at Good Shepard School in Barrington, NH for 25 years. Although she was diagnosed with MS in 1985 she continued to overcome the effects. "I have MS, but MS doesn't have me!" She shared her stories and challenges speaking across New England at Christian Women's Club meetings. She was a founding member of New Covenant Baptist Church, member of the Berwick Ladies Auxiliary, PWoC, supporter of Alpha PRC (Sanford), and a lifetime member of the NRA. Her radiant beauty, infectious smile and angelic soul will live on forever in our hearts and memories. Her favorite verse is Romans 8:38-39
Visiting hours will be 6-8pm Wednesday, May 22 at Johnson Funeral Home,26 Market Street, North Berwick and Celebration of Life will be Thursday, May 23 10:00 am at New Covenant Baptist Church, Maple St. North Berwick.
Burial will be in Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale on Thursday, May 30 at 11.
