Maria A. Wesely, 75, of Old Post Lane in Sanford, passed away in York Hospital on November 17, 2019 with family by her side after a long struggle with pulmonary fibrosis.
She was born in Brazil on June 20, 1944, the daughter of Higino and Maria Silveria (Ramos) Pinheiro and graduated from school there. In 1976, Maria moved to the United States, becoming a U.S. citizen in 1988. Maria raised her children in Sanford and worked for Sprague Electric and Cyro. After taking several classes, Maria worked at the National Passport Center in Portsmouth, NH at the International Help Desk where she was extremely good at her job.
Maria was a selfless woman who loved helping people. She would go without just so others would have and was humble about her kindness. She traveled to Germany and Brazil to care for her ailing sister. Maria attended the Elliot Baptist Church.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. Maria loved spending time with them all; especially trips to the beach with the grandchildren. She also loved the high mountains and going for rides along the Kancamagus Highway in New Hampshire.
Maria was pre-deceased by her parents and 2 sisters, Maria Magda Rodriguez and Maria Henia Seifert. She will be sorely missed by her son, Andy Wesely and his wife, Malinda of Biddeford; daughter Adriana Lord and husband William of South Berwick; sister, Maria Jean Jensen and her husband Ed of Englewood, FL; her five precious grandchildren, Jenica, Julia, Joshua, Kurt and Madison; and her sister of the heart, Barbara Crowley, who will miss her dearly.
Services will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in her memory may be sent to the York County Shelter Programs, Inc., 147 Shaker Hill Road, Alfred, ME 04002.
