Lester G. Foss, Jr, 80, passed away on July 10, 2019 where he resided with his wife Diana, at
The Landing in Saco, Maine.
He was born December 22, 1938 in Franklin, Maine, the son of the late Lester G. and Martha
(Milliken) Foss. On September 5, 1958 he married his high school sweetheart, Diana, at
Sheppards Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas.
After dedicating 21 years of service, including serving in the Vietnam War, he retired in 1979
from the U.S. Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant. His favorite past times included
woodworking and hunting. He loved to carve wooden birds, build all types of furniture, and
enjoyed collecting and restoring antique tools such as wooden planes. On any given summer day,
he could be found visiting yard sales and flea markets with his wife Diana, as they searched for antique tools and treasures.
Lobstering and fishing with his family, and making memories with
his grandchildren were also very important to him. They would often spend vacations road
tripping and camping throughout the United States and Canada. He and Diana wintered in
Tampa, Florida for several years, where they made many life long friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Lester G. and Martha Foss; his son, Lester G. Foss III; and
his brother, Robert L. Foss.
Lester is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Diana L. Foss; daughter Lisa Tilton and her
husband Glenn Tilton of Boothbay Harbor; son Leonard Foss and his wife Dawny Foss of Wells;
his two brothers Gardner Foss of Biddeford, and Richard Foss and his partner Anna Santiago of
