Lee Porper Obituary

Lee Ann (Hurst) Porper, 60, of Lebanon Road, passed away unexpectedly and  went home to be with the Lord on January 19, 2019.

She was born September 20, 1958 in Cape May, NJ, daughter of Richard and Elizabeth (Balestraci) Hurst and graduated Gloucester, MA High School in 1976.

Lee raised her family in Gloucester, MA before moving to North Berwick, ME in 1986.  She worked as a waitress at Pat’s Deli, Billy’s Chowder House and the Omelette Factory.  Lee enjoyed a simple life in Maine; basking in the sun on the beach and  the sea roses and  adored animals.  She had a beautiful soul and helped people in any way she could.  Lee had a wonderful sense of humor and her laugh was infectious.  Lee made many friends throughout the years who will remember her for her kindness and caring heart and she  was a fabulous cook.  Her relentlessness to keep pushing thru all of life’s  struggles made her the strong person she was.  Lee  loved her Thursday night date nights with  Tom.  She had a deep sense of caring for others but mostly treasured her family; especially her times spent with her grandchildren.  Lee was the foundation of her family who will be forever loved.

Lee was predeceased by her father Richard Hurst in 1999.  Surviving are her mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Hurst  of Rockport, MA; 2 sons, Michael Porper  and companion, Ashley Gross and Jarred Porper and companion, Kayla Chandler of North Berwick, ME; daughter Lisa Pento and husband David of Londonderry, NH; 2 brothers, Rick Hurst of Gloucester, MA and Stephen Hurst and wife Robyn of Salisbury, MA; 8 grandchildren, Maria, Carina, Alyssa and David Pento, Jr, Myiah and Grace Porper, Nolan Porper and Avery Chandler; her longtime companion, Tom Legg of Wells, ME; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and so many special friends.

A time of visitation will  be held Friday, January 25, 2019 from 5pm to 8pm at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick, ME.   A mass of Christian burial will be held at a later date in Gloucester, MA.  Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester, MA.  Friends who wish may contribute to Another Chance Animal Rescue,  P.O. Box 552, North Berwick, ME 03906. Arrangements are entrusted to the Johnson Funeral Home, North Berwick, ME where condolences may be expressed at www.JohnsonFuneralHomeME.com.
