Jonie Marie Ellis

Jonie Marie Ellis, 41, of Kittery, went to be with her Jesus on May 13, 2019.

Jonie was born February 7, 1978 in Portsmouth, NH to Norma Jane (Curran) Ellis, her devoted mother  who dedicated her life to educating and raising Jonie to be the outgoing, loving and caring girl she was.

Jonie adored her  “cat daughter”, Jessica; she had an infatuation with the color pink and enjoyed  the ocean.  She lovingly kept everyone in line as she was  a stickler for details.  If her routine was broken, she was sure to get everyone right back on track.  She enjoyed bantering with her brother-in-law, Michael,  having dinner with Heidi and Robert and adored her nephews and nieces, “in order of age”.  Jonie was happy doing  simple things like Go Fish,  watching Super Nanny or the Waltons, and reading her favorite books, like  Little House on the Prairie.

 Her biggest love was attending every service and as many festivities she could  at the Bethel Christian Church in North Berwick.  Among her favorites were the Pumpkin Party and Christmas plays but mostly the Christmas and Easter Cantatas.  Jonie’s heart and soul were filled with praise and worship music.  She would blare out the songs for everyone to hear so loudly that many speakers were blown and radios replaced.  She is surely singing at the top of her lungs with her Jesus today.

Jonie was pre-deceased by her grandmother, Norma Bean and mother, Norma Jane Ellis.  She will be forever loved by her 2 sisters, Doreen Ellis of Kittery, Carolyn Hughes and husband Michael of Sanford; nephews, Benjamin and David Hughes; nieces Victoria and Sophia Hughes; special friends, Heidi and Robert, Judy Lovely, Mr. & Mrs. Gallo, and Chris and Andrea Neslusan;  everyone at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital, especially Dr. Peeran, Andrea in Dialysis and nurse Amy.  She will always remain in the hearts of her Bethel Church family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 25 at 10am at the Bethel Christian Church, 129 Lower Main Street, North Berwick, ME with Rev. Robert G.
