Donald L. Wyman, 87, of Madison Street, went to be with the Lord on December 22, 2018 in Wentworth Douglas Hospital.
He was one of 7 children born in Bridgton, ME, to Linwood S. and Lydia F. (Libby) Wyman. The family was raised in a Christian home, where Don was quoted as saying, “I am blessed to know that I will live forever.”
He attended Bridgton schools before the family moved to North Berwick in 1947. Donald served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict in the #8063 M.A.S.H. unit. He spent several years in Illinois before returning home to North Berwick in the 1950’s.
Donny worked for Wyman Brothers Carpentry where he and his brothers performed quality painting, wall-papering and carpentry for most of their lives. For 3 years, Donny, his brother Kenny Wyman and brothers, Erik and Ronnie Hanson formed a Gospel singing group, “The Disciples” and spread the word of God throughout New England. Donny was a self-taught musician, playing the piano, mandolin, harmonica and violin, just to name a few. Donny shared his gift of music most Sunday mornings at the Bethel Christian Church. After the passing of his first wife, Donny married Mary G. Edson and they would’ve celebrated their 30th anniversary in March.
Donny was pre-deceased by his 1st wife, Sarah (Richardson) Wyman, daughter, Donna Wyman Stewart and sister, Gertrude Wyman Knight. Surviving are his wife Mary G. (Chick) Wyman of North Berwick; granddaughter, Amy (Stewart) Julian of North Berwick; grandson, David Stewart and wife Kara of Sanford; 5 great grandchildren, Christina, Alyssa and Emily Julian, Nicholas Ferry and Ava Stewart; 2 great-great grandchildren, Kaiden and Owen; 2 brothers, William (Brenda) Wyman of North Berwick and Kenneth Wyman of Wells; 3 sisters, Dorothy Ridlon of Bridgton, Carol Kezar and husband Charles of North Berwick, Sherry Johnson of North Berwick; two step sons, Richard (Roberta) Edson of Bradenton, FL and Robert (Pamela) Edson of Gray, ME; step daughter Nancy Leighton and husband Gary of Williamsburg, VA; 8 step-grandchildten, 10 step great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and his extended church family.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday, December 29 from 10:30am to 12noon immediately followed by a funeral with Military Honors at 12 noon at the Bethel Christian Church, 129 Lower Main Street, North Berwick, ME.
