Barbara L. Allen, 73, of Butternut Trail died June 9, 2018 from injuries sustained in a tragic motor vehicle accident.
She was born November 5, 1944 in Waltham, MA, the daughter of James F. and Estelle (Payette) Hurley. Barbara was a graduate of Watertown, MA High School and Catherine Gibbs Academy and worked as an accountant/Office Manager for Alpha Weatherproofing. She married the love of her life, Donald Allen in 1966. Together raising their two daughters Christine and Hope in Reading, MA until retiring to Wells, Maine in 2004.
Barbara was full of spunk and energy, living life to its fullest. Between Red Hats, Curves and Weight Watchers groups, she collected many treasured friends; 13 of whom met every Tuesday for lunch at Gorges Grant. Barbara had traveled to Ireland, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone and was excited to take a Riverboat Tour of Europe in a few months.
Barbara was a master gardener and had taken classes at University of Maine to perfect her talents. She took great pride in her numerous gardens surrounding their home; her beauty will reflect in them for years to come. Most importantly, Barbara was the rock of the family; a beautiful, wonderful wife and partner to Donald and exceptional mother and grandmother. She quit her job the day her first grandchild was born so she wouldn’t miss a moment of their young lives.
Barbara was predeceased by her brother, James Hurley, Jr. Her huge presence will be missed by her husband of 52 years, Donald C. Allen of Wells, ME; 2 daughters, Hope Stamps and her husband Eurie of Woburn Massachusetts, Christine Ciaramitaro and her husband Stephen of Rowley Massachusetts; 4 grandchildren, Quinn and Shannon Stamps, Desiree and Steven Ciaramitaro Saugus Massachuetts; her beloved cat Princess and many dear friends.

A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2018 from 3pm to 5pm at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick, ME.
